Digital Wind

Nature is all around us, inspiring and influencing our lives every day. Digital Wind, is a project which represents nature with digital means. The work is created by using a wind sensor connected to an Arduino and a 8x8 LED matrix array. When the wind blows a simple pixelated wave animation is created, giving a visual representation of the wind.

The inspiration for the work comes from, an experience I had while riding the train through Europe in the summer of 2010. I found myself getting lost in the scenery of farmers’ fields on the county sides of France. As I was seeing the different landscapes that many artists have been inspired by for centuries. Watching the wind create waves in the fields inspired me to recreate this natural beauty within my own practice of digital and interactive work.
